The New
Bohemia Group presents the
2009 New Bohemia Arts & Music Festival
It’s the 3rd Annual New
Bohemia Arts & Music Festival taking place over the Labor Day
weekend, Saturday, September 5 & Sunday, September 6 in Cedar
Rapids, Iowa and we’re happy to be back on 3rd Street SE afterthe
floods of 2008. Please plan on attending this wonderful, all-ages
community event. This year’s FREE
festival features:

Over 40 local artists
showing paintings, illustration, printmaking, photography, pottery,
jewelry, glasswork and sculpture. Included in the exhibit will be
work from two artist recovery groups (artists affected by the flood)
representing Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. |
 |
Master of Ceremonies for
Best of Show Awards will be Cedar
Rapids City Councilman Brian Fagan. |
 |
Two live stages of music
with 28 artists/bands playing original music, folk, classic rock,
blues, jazz, and hip-hop – something for every musical taste.
Saturday evening concerts at the Bottleworks Stage and Cherry
Building stages will feature The Diplomats of Solid Sound, Dave
Schultz & Dry Heat, Uniphonics, Christerifik/Sonny Wholestak and
the Hoodlums. |

A New Bo KidzSpace
area with music, dance, theater and art making activities for kids
under 12. The KidzSpace will also feature a New Bo City
Market, Kid's Karaoke, interactive children's theater with the Poetic
Rebound Performance Group and the magic and balloon fun of Sparkles
the Clown, Mr. Bubbles and Papa Balloon. |

Street performances by
three dance companies: MoVMNT; Dancing with Scissors; Sisters of
the Shifting Sands and a special Theatre Cedar Rapids
preview of Altar Boyz. Juggling by Doug Sayers. In addition,
look for street artists and musicians performing in and around the
festival throughout the two days. |
 |
Great food vendors from
area restaurants Winifred’s, Rafael’s, Tic Toc, Kettlecorn,
Kool Moo, Coffee Emporium and Marco’s Pizza. |
 |
Special events/exhibits
include: Tours of the Bottleworks condominiums; Artworks open
house at the Cherry Building; tours of Czech Village/New
Bohemia by the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library; A
photographic display of the history of New Bohemia by Mark Hunter;
A “This Place Matters” portrait event with Ann Kinney of
Illusions Photography – have your picture taken with a historic
building in the district building you would like saved (an Iowa
Department of Economic Main Street sponsored project). |

part of the Czech Village / New Bohemia Cultural District.
