- CHALK the WALK - Peter Thompson gave up his Sunday afternoon, and a
bike ride to Shueyville, to complete the 2x2xU Chalk the Walk drawing on

New Bohemia
Presents
The 2x2xU Community Art Gallery
Reception
June 12th, 5-7 PM
CSPS/Bottleworks
on
3rd Street and 10th Avenue SE
Cedar Rapids, IA
Over 80 Paintings by Area Artists!
Please plan to attend this wonderful, all-ages neighborhood arts
event, featuring walking tours of the exhibit, refreshments, music and
art activities. This year we will be recreating the famous
Marvin Cone painting of Little Bohemia as an 8x20 foot chalk drawing
in New Bo Park (3rd Street and 10th Ave SE). This historically
significant building is at risk. Help us promote efforts for its
preservation and restoration. We will also be finishing a flood
mural installation "Fishes" by Leonardo Toucuarto, an artist
dislocated by the flood. The finished artwork will be displayed
outdoors in the district later this summer. Please join us for
some community art making!
Music for the receptions will be provided Sarah Cram, Sharon Bousquet,
the Washington Alternative Strings, Natalie Brown, Nikki Lunden and
the Trollies. You can browse the galleries at CSPS/Legion Arts
or come on down the street to the Bottleworks outdoor stage.
Free music, art and refreshments. Help us celebrate the rebirth
of the Czech Village/New Bohemia Cultural District!
Don't miss the recommisioning of the New Bohemia Solar Array - Rich
Dana, co-creator of the project and Alliant Energy will be
there to share efforts to get the project back on line. Look for
the solar panels on the Kouba Building across from New Bo Park.
Also don't forget the silent auction of 5 years of 2x2xU art
being held at CSPS - for as little as $10.00 you can own a piece of
New Bohemia 2x2xU art history. Many pieces have been donated
from past shows to help support future New Bohemia events. A
great collection and a good cause!
